Who is ADIS?
ADIS is a 24/7, confidential Queensland Health – Metro North Hospital & Health Service initiative offering free counselling, advice, information and referrals for individuals, families, and health professionals dealing with alcohol and other drug concerns.
What they wanted
They wanted an accessible, anonymous online intervention that could guide users through evidence-based strategies for managing alcohol and drug use, while maintaining the tone of empathy and non-judgement that defines their service.
My goal
The goal was to create an engaging, user-friendly experience that met users where they were — emotionally and behaviourally — and encouraged them to take the next step toward change, whether that meant self-reflection, harm reduction, or connecting with further support.
The Challenge
ADIS runs an extensive, evidence-based counselling program typically delivered through face-to-face sessions. The challenge was to translate this complex, clinician-led intervention into a digital format that could be accessed anonymously, without losing its therapeutic value.
They needed a clear content strategy that would break down the program into manageable, engaging modules — guiding the design and build of an online tool that could support users at different stages of readiness and need. My role was to help shape that strategy and design an experience that was both clinically informed and emotionally accessible
