Set and forget the smart fridge that does it all

My Disciplines: Product design, interaction design

Retired Tony D'Aloisio, former Chairman of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), is a passionate connoisseur of fine wines. Embracing the digital age, Tony set out to offer wine enthusiasts a simpler, more convenient way to store and order their favourite selections.

Tony engaged LX Group to develop a first-of-its-kind concept: a smart wine fridge. While the physical product was in production, I collaborated closely with LX to design a virtual version of the fridge for mobile. The app needed to seamlessly communicate with the Aircellar, allowing users to explore new wines, learn about the bottles currently in their collection, and receive notifications about upcoming shipments.

Looking ahead, Tony envisioned the app evolving into a comprehensive wine service platform. However, he needed guidance in shaping what that future might look like. I explored potential concepts for the app’s next iterations, imagining new features and expanded functionality to enhance the overall wine experience.
