The campaign
The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) holds an annual Privacy Awareness Week, which highlights privacy as a fundamental human right in today’s data-driven world. The campaign encourages individuals to adopt simple but effective practices, such as reading privacy policies, strengthening passwords, reviewing app settings, and being mindful about the personal information they share.
2023 Pitch
The 2023 Privacy Awareness Week campaign theme was “Privacy 101: Back to Basics” — a return to the fundamentals of protecting personal information in a rapidly evolving digital world. We saw this as the perfect opportunity to create a campaign experience that felt nostalgic, playful, and instantly relatable, while still delivering serious and actionable content.
The Result
The site launched to strong engagement, with the nostalgic Windows 95-inspired design drawing attention across both public and professional and government audiences. The creative approach helped demystify complex privacy topics, making the content feel more fun and engaging.
The site was shared widely, and the visual concept received praise for its originality and relevance to the “Back to Basics” theme.
